Literacy Coordinator - Outreach Team

Time commitment: Minimum 3-5 hours/week volunteer commitment, in addition to active learning club (details below).


Responsibilities:

  • Curating visual, audio, text resources for SUTE’s Active Learning Club (ALC) a monthly meeting (mandatory for all members of Shake Up The Establishment) where we continue one’s on-going education on climate and social justice issues in our society, to consistently decolonize our activism and strive to practice better allyship.

  • Planning and facilitating ALC meetings for members of the organization as well as members of SUTE’s audience through our public ALC’s.

  • Compiling and/or creating reflection activities, learning exercises, and engagement questions for ALC meetings.

  • Research ongoing campaigns, current issues, and potential partner organizations to help inform decisions made by SUTE regarding our work and collaborations.

  • Active seeking of avenues to promote SUTE through collaborative opportunities.


Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail, leadership and organization skills.

  • Self-motivated, able to learn new systems and create opportunities with own initiative.

  • Works well independently and is comfortable with working with a team in an online setting (Slack, Google docs).

  • Previous experience with social media management.

  • Previous experience as a community organizer, and/or experience within social justice spaces and movements is highly valued

  • Bilingual ability with French and English is considered an asset.
